The Rundown: War is on the horizon and Ash will discover that there is something different about this particular game.

At the same time, Matt, Angela and Chuck discover a Fallen in the form of Angela’s daughter and they have to contemplate how time is moving in the real world while they are stuck in the world of DIE. In order to find a way to escape, they must return to the world of the Grandmaster.

With all avenues of peace seemingly cut off, Ash makes the determination that if the game is changing, then she needs to meet the new player. When Bronte brokers a meeting, Ash will discover the new player is someone very familiar.

The Story: Kieron Gillen throws an awesome curve ball at the end of this issue and everything leading up to it is perfectly laid out. The plot is fantastic and the dialogue is refreshing, especially from Chuck and Zamorna. The tone is great and everything engages the reader in the lives, desires and fates of these characters. I can’t wait to see what happens next and the reveal at the end promises that it will something unexpected.

The Art: Stephanie Hans blows me away with the art in this issue. There is a beautiful, elegant flow to the character of Ash that is fantastic. The rest of the characters are expressive and beautifully detailed. I love the look of this issue and the series entire.
