According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Denis Villeneuve will direct the pilot episode of a new straight to series drama called Dune: The Sisterhood. The series is a female-focused take on Frank Herbert’s original novel. In the novel, Herbert introduced the order of the Bene Gesserits. A group of powerful women, the Bene Gesserits navigate the politics and intrigue of the empire with their own agenda.

“The Bene Gesserit have always been fascinating to me. Focusing a series around that powerful order of women seemed not only relevant and inspiring but a dynamic setting for the television series,” Villeneuve said.
