Daredevil

Real Name: Matthew Murdock

AKA: Daredevil / The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen

First Appearance: Daredevil #1 (April 1964)

Comic Origins: Matt Murdock is a good kid living in a tough town. When he pushes a man out-of-the-way of oncoming traffic, a truck carrying radioactive waste crashes, dousing Matt in the chemicals and causing permanent blindness. Raised to be a fighter by his single father, Matt discovers that the accident that caused his blindness also increased his other senses to superhuman levels. His father Jack is killed by mobsters for refusing to throw a fight and Matt uses his superhuman senses, peak physical ability and acrobatic skills to fight crime both as a superhero and as an attorney.

Pre-Defenders: In the wake of losing his friends, his practice and the woman he loved Elektra while battling The Hand, Matt has abandoned being Daredevil and has devoted himself to the law. When an event rattles the city, Matt finds himself unable to resist investigating what happened. His investigation will lead him to new people, a new mystery and an unexpected return.
