The Rundown: A series of short tales illuminate the dark corners of the DC universe.

Grief’s Quiet Name – The wails of a ghost prompt Madame Xanadu to team up with Man-Bat to find out why the ghost is in turmoil. When they arrive at an unassuming apartment in Gotham, they discover that the person living there is not who she appear to be.

A really good short that works well as both an adventure tale and a ghost story. The art also really sells the story’s mood and tone.

Urban Legends – When a young boy tries to tell people about the supernatural being attacking kids in their group home, no one believes him, except Batman. When he goes to investigate, the Dark Knight discovers that not all children’s stories are make believe.

A great short story with some awesome supernatural elements. Ahmed goes a little heavy on the exposition, but the story is fun and vibrant with a great ending.

The Shadow Over Coast City – Hal Jordan tracks a threat throughout the city and finds himself teamed up with Etrigan to take it down.

The story is ok, but it doesn’t really rise above that. The pairing of these two characters is awkward especially when their only dynamic is threatening each other.

Inner Demons – Wonder Woman is investigating a series of missing persons. When she comes upon the culprit, she will discover that she needs help from Raven to remove the demon from its host.

A good story that has some interesting moments between Diana and Raven. I also enjoyed the dark tone of the ending.

7 Days – Ras Al Ghul needs to find a new source of immortality and he finds it in Solomon Grundy. Taking the monster for a ceremony to restore himself, the Demon’s Head will discover that there is more to Grundy than the story.

A great story that is dark and menacing. Wolfman makes these characters interesting with each page and Mandrake’s art is amazing.

From Humble Roots – Clark Kent investigates a farm outside Gotham and discovers something dark that only he and Swamp Thing can overcome.

A good story that brings the unlikely duo up against an interesting threat. The narration and ending were definitely the highlights of the story.

The Hunt – A ship in Gotham Harbor will find itself under siege when Orphan and Orca decide to stop the criminals hiding inside.

The story was good. The narration was great. The plot worked really well and the outcome was done perfectly.

Follow the Water – Frankenstein enlists the help of Aquaman when an Atlantean corpse makes it way to Mars, but the king of Atlantis has a minor complication to deal with during their investigation.

Brandon Thomas writes a cute and, at times, funny story that was unexpected in its complexity.

Beast Boys to Men – Beast Boy and Raven are on a date when Klarion’s familiar Teekl decides to kidnap the Titan forcing the two romantic rivals to work together to rescue her.

A cute story that has a fun and interesting ending.
