The Rundown: As Washington D.C. burns, Cadmus tries to find the source of the virus and hopefully a cure.

With Ray Palmer shrinking himself down to examine the virus up close, Captain Atom is sent on a mission to wipe out the infected using a series of surgical strikes. Unfortunately, things go very wrong very fast. The situation is deteriorating fast and Atom’s presence is only going to make things worse when it’s discovered that Palmer has a secret of his own.

Back in Metropolis, the heroes are ready to broadcast their message to anyone listening that help is on the way and calling for all heroes who aren’t infected to make their way to the Daily Planet. All over the world, the call goes out and as Superman and Wonder Woman go looking for survivors, their call also attracts the infected in the form of a giant, zombie Giganta.

The Story: Tom Taylor continues to push the limits with this issue and the story. Just when you think things couldn’t get worse, Taylor drops a literal bomb on the survivors in the shape of Captain Atom. It’s a brilliant move on the part of the writer to keep the reader on his\her toes as to what to expect next. Everything in this series is unpredictable and the darker it gets, the more compelling Taylor makes it I can’t wait to see where the story goes next and after this issue’s dramatic climax, it looks like things are going to get darker.

The Art: Trevor Hairsine continues to deliver art that is both beautiful to look at and visceral in its depiction of the violence happening throughout the story.
