The Rundown: A man seeking help from the Justice League will uncover a dark and dangerous conspiracy.

A man dressed to cover himself completely makes his way to the Hall of Justice with an ominous warning for the Justice League. As he gets closer to the building, he realizes that he is being hunted and his attempt to escape will expose who and what he is to the assembled gawkers. After being rescued by Hal Jordan, the man says that he needs to speak with the Justice League about a threat to the world.

After telling Hal his story, Andrew finds that the conspiracy of vampires goes higher than he believed when Jordan attacks him and betrays another ally. With the only witness to the conspiracy dead, Hal goes to a meeting not knowing that the dead vampire made a stop in Gotham and handing over the only thing that could possibly save the world.

The Story: I love mystery stories. I also really love dark conspiracies and supernatural thrillers. Tynion IV and Rosenberg manage to include all of those in this first issue. The story us solid, suspenseful and full of great twists and surprises. I was impressed with how dark the story went and the turn it takes involving one of the heroes. There are some entertaining elements at play in this issue and I am interested in seeing where the story goes next.

The Art: Schmidt does brilliant work with the art in the issue. The characters look great and the art style is perfect for action, drama and horror at the same time in some scenes.
