The Rundown: The speedsters race to escape the Batman Who Laughs, but Wally believes there is a better way to fight.

The Batman Who Laughs has evolved and he is on the heels of the escaping Flash family.  With Barry in the lead, Jay, Wally and Wallace race into the world. With the Speed Force waning, the Batman Who Laughs decides to up the ante by releasing dead Flash’s from across the Dark Multiverse. Wally will have to think fast if he’s going to give them a chance to rest and regroup.

With a break before they begin to run again, Wally and Barry clash about their next move. Wally has an idea of how to turn the tide, but it will mean burning out the Speed Force to get an important weapon into the hands of their allies. When the Batman Who Laughs begins to corrupt their power, the speedsters will have to try something dangerous if they have any chance.

The Story: Joshua Williamson crafts a great story that reminds the reader why the Flash Family is so dynamic and interesting. The plot is entertaining and there is a level of sentimentality in it that is welcoming. Other than his potential threat, the Batman Who Laughs doesn’t have much presence in the story and I wanted to see him be more of a psychological and physical threat to the heroes, but the story is well done and ends on a hopeful note.

The Art: Eddy Barrows’ art is brilliant. Every panel is full of action and energy. Even the quiet moments are kinetic in that they feel like a character could take off at any moment. Really impressed with the look and feel of this story.
