Marvel Comics

Written by Chip Zdarsky

Art by Manuel Garcia

Letters by Clayton Cowles

The Rundown: After defeating the Hand, Daredevil will realize too late that his battle is just starting.

With the Hand seemingly defeated, Aka pays a visit to her benefactors who decide that it is time to accelerate their plans and take out the Fist once and for all. At the same time, Matt deals with his injuries and the resulting psychological toll they are taking him. A toll that some of his people no longer decide they want to pay as they begin to leave.

When Matt discovers that their location has been compromised, he tries to warn everyone. Unfortunately, he is too late and not only is the compound attacked, but both Matt and Elektra will discover that they have been wrong about the people they trust as Matt finds himself facing some old friends who want answers.

The Story: Zdarsky takes Matt down a dark and twisting path in this issue and I loved every moment of it. Matt’s obsession is costing him everything and the story does a great job of showcasing everything that he is losing and what it is doing to not just himself, but the people who have been following him. I loved the surprises in this issue and the story does a brilliant job of bringing everything to a tense, thrilling and exciting climax.

The Art: Garcia’s art brilliantly captures the dark, brooding and ominous tone of the story. The use of shadow and the beautiful visual details perfectly complement the tone of the story.
