The Rundown: Caleb and Beau are on a secret mission and find themselves in a strange tourist trap.

Expositor Beauregard Lionette and Caleb Widowgast have traveled to Basuras to meet a contact that has information regarding an excavation site out in the desert. Unfortunately, they don’t know who the contact is and to make matters worse, they are to meet at a cheesy dinner theater spot called A Taste of Tal’Dorei.
As the pair attempt to blend into the background, Beau becomes more impressed with the location and is having a lot more fun than Caleb when the show begins and a musical journey of Vox Machina is presented to the patrons. When one of the performers reveals themselves to be the contact and gives them the information they need right before a new band of adventurers wanders into the establishment for the first time.
The Story: As a fan of Critical Role, this story was a fantastic interlude to the events of the third campaign. As a story, Sam Maggs crafts a fun, funny and thoroughly entertaining story that highlights the relationship dynamic between Caleb and Beau. The story also includes a great cameo that I wasn’t expecting and eagerly enjoyed. This is a great treat for fans of these characters, the world of Critical Role and lovers of great storytelling. I would love to see more of these stories in the future.
The Art: Cino delivers fantastic art throughout the issue. The character designs are fantastic and I love the visual style of this story and the easter eggs sprinkled throughout the backgrounds.
