Critical Role is celebrating its tenth year with a number of live shows and multiple announcements including the first look at the upcoming animated Mighty Nein series and the reveal that The Legend of Vox Machina will end with season 5.

After ten years and three multi-year campaigns under their belt, the next Campaign for this group of nerdy voice actors is making some huge changes.

When will we see Campaign 4?

According to multiple sources including an announcement from CR team members DM Matthew Mercer, CEO Travis Willingham and Chief Creative Officer Marisha Ray, fans of Critical Role can expect to see the new campaign starting October 2, 2025.

Who will DM Campaign 4?

Matthew Mercer is the soul, spirit and architect of the world of Exandria where Campaign 1 (Vox Machina), Campaign 2 (The Mighty Nein) and Campaign 3 (Bell’s Hells) take place. According to the announcement from the CR team, Dimension 20 DM Brennan Lee Mulligan will take over the DM seat for Campaign 4 with Mercer joining the table as a player in this new campaign.

Where will Campaign 4 take place?

There’s no definitive information on where Campaign 4 will take place, but the announcement video shares that this will be a “New World” so it’s safe to assume that Campaign 3 was the end of adventures in the mythical world of Exandria. This doesn’t mean that fans will never see that world again because CR is known for exploring that world in shorter form campaigns and one-shots.

What game system will Campaign 4 use?

Critical Role’s Darrington Press imprint released their first game system Daggerheart this year so it’s almost a sure bet that campaign 4 will be utilizing their own game system since the campaign will be a new story set on a new world.

What do you think of the new announcement from Critical Role? Will you be watching campaign 4? Let me know in the comments.
