Wonder Woman 1984 star Chris Pine is in negotiations to star in a movie from the writers of Game Night and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

According to Deadline, Pine is in talks to star in a movie adaptation of the popular role playing game Dungeons and Dragons for Hasbro/eOne and Paramount Pictures.

The film will feature an ensemble cast and take a different, more subversive approach to the game itself. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will direct the film based on their script they’ve written. Michael Gilio wrote the initial draft for the film.

This isn’t the first time Dungeons and Dragons has come to the big screen. New Line Cinema attempted to tackle the game series in 2000 with a big screen version starring Jeremy Irons and Marlon Wayans. It was not successful. Over 40 million people have played or currently play Dungeon and Dragons or D&D for short so there is a huge incentive to get this right if the studio has any chance of making it the franchise series they hope it will be.
