The tide is turning in the battle across multiple fronts as a contingency of heroes and villains contact Lorena with news regarding their recent victory over the Obsidian Men. Lorena Payan has been burning the candle at both ends for so long that news of the victory knocks her off her feet, but doesn’t deter her from continuing to make contingency plans in case her assets fail in their mission.

At the same time, a small group of heroes led by Bo Chen have a final drink together before they begin what could be their final mission; hitting Khrelan directly with everything they have. As they take the fight to the creature, Camila learns a secret about the creature that will change everything about her world and Jimmy Hu learns that there is more to the officer protecting him than meets the eye.

The Story: Filled with both tension and hope, Gail Simone centers this issue on the human stories. One of the reasons why this series has been so compelling is its focus on the characters and how they and the rest of the world react to being under the gun from an external threat. This issue shows the physical and emotional toll that this event is having on the people at the center of it while also building up the tension and drama with revelations and bold action. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next.

The Art: Jose Luis delivers some stunning visuals in this issue. The characters look great. The action is intense and beautifully detailed. A great, bright and vibrant looking book from start to finish.
