The Story: The assault to free the hostages of the Power Elite will take some strange and unexpected turns.

Captain America fights with his allies to free the rest of his friends from the Red Skull and the Power Elite. At the same time, Steve thinks about the people he’s surrounded himself with and how they have been with him in some of the darkest times he can remember. As he appreacites these people fighting alongside him, Bucky has some bad news about the Madripoor air forces. Sam manages to rescue Peggy and as she returns to the fight, he goes after some fleeing enemies.

While the hostages wait for their rescue, Crossbones takes a particular interest in General Ross. An interest that Misty doesn’t understand, but Black Widow understands all too well, especially when Ross goads the villains into torturing him harder. With the forces of the Power Elite moving in closer and the heroes fighting for their lives an their friends, an unexpected ally arrives that tips the balance of power in their favor.

The Story: Coates does a great job of keeping the energy of the action going at the same time the story transitions back to Steve’s memories of the people involved in the fight. There is a great balance to the story and the main plot never feels overshadowed or dwarfed by the flashbacks. I enjoyed how the story unfolded, especially everything with General Ross. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending and cannot wait to see what comes next.

The Art: Leonard delivers some great action packed visuals throughout the issue. The imagery is well detailed and really matches the tone and mood of the story.
