The Rundown: Tim Hunter will have to find a way to wake up from his arctic nightmare without bringing his dark dream self with him.

Tim is on the run in his frigid dream from the nightmare version of himself hunting him. Fortunately for Tim, he’s not alone. Rose is with him and she promises to do everything that she can to free him from the nightmare without having to take the ultimate step. A step that Tim is considering for himself if only to contain the nightmare and protect the people he cares about.

At the same time, Celia is working with Tim’s father to find a way to protect him in the real world and free him from the deep sleep that is hurting him. Unwilling to give the nightmare version of himself the book it is seeking, Tim and Rose will come up with a way to lure the creature out and hopefully free them while containing it once and for all.

The Story: Kat Howard brings this arc to a satisfying resolution. The story does a great job of building on the internal and external conflicts of the characters, specifically Tim and Rose and the story has emotional weight even though it’s self contained and relatively small. Tim’s budding self awareness of both his power and the consequences of it is one of the things that brings me back to this book issue after issue and it is satisfying to see the characters evolve. I like the fact that this arc isn’t the end of Tim’s internal conflict and I’m interested in where Tim’s journey takes him next.

The Art: Fowler and Taillefer deliver some gorgeous art in this issue. From the awesome snow covered landscapes to the detailed action, the art in this issue is fantastic.
