The Rundown: Jesse returns to her hometown and finds an old friend who believes that she died.

Jesse Harmon left a note for a friend once where they were kids and years later has decided to return to the island town of Perennial Harbor to leave a new note for her friend Melody. After sneaking into the town and seeing no one on the streets, she passes the ominous church at the center of town to leave the note and get out of town.

Unfortunately, the call of nostalgia brings her to a local diner for a drink she loved as a kid and she sees the older Melody sitting in a booth. Melody tells her a fantastic story that ends with her escaping the church with a gun and Jesse decides that they both need to leave. Unfortunately, a voice calls to her and she finds herself staring into the face of a nightmare.

The Story: Parker and Sheridan create a tense, thrilling and dark mystery in this first issue. I love the rise of tension throughout the story and its point of view character Jesse. There is a wonderfully ominous tone to the story and the final pages enforce a mystery that I want to see explored.

The Art: Browning delivers stunning art throughout the issue. The visuals perfectly capture the dark, moody tone of the story.
