The Rundown: Natasha and Yelena continue their investigation, but things get more dangerous for everyone.

Natasha waits for her contact Arana with Yelena and continues to contemplate the life that she lost when she witnesses a mother and child. Yelena brings her back to the present and they have a short debriefing with Arana before the two split up to continue their investigation.

Natasha returns to comfort a visibly shaken Lucy who is worried about what her new powers might do to her. At the same time, Arana confronts the men turning civilians into living weapons and Yelena finds herself in need of help from Widow after securing someone who might have answers they need.

The Story: One of the best things Thompson has done with this series is add Yelena as a counter balance to Nat. Their interactions and conversations are some of the best I’ve read and you get the full sense of their history and personalities in every exchange. Natasha still dealing with her personal loss and her mixed emotions regarding it is great, emotional development for the character and gives her new depth that I appreciate. I appreciate the fact that she struggles with compartmentalizing her emotions and Yelena’s presence helps with that. The plot is great. I loved the humor and action as well.

The Art: Casagrande and De Latorre delivers some fantastic art throughout this issue. Not only are the quiet moments filled with great detail and style, but the action is fantastic and thrilling as well. I loved the Arana escape sequence for its visual flair alone.
