The Rundown: Four new tales showcase the heroes of Gotham City.

Cheer

Jason has one chance to stop Cheer and free Batman before the villain can infect him. Unfortunately, Jason is too late to stop Bruce from getting a huge dose of Cheerdrops, but he does show Freeze and Cheer that he isn’t alone as the Bat-Family swoops in for backup. At the same time, Jason has to choose whether to save himself from Cheer’s gas or use it on Bruce.

A great story that utilizes the relationships between these characters perfectly. It also has great action and tension throughout.

Blood for Blood

Dressed as Wonder Woman, Zealot gets close to Maxwell Lord before he escapes her clutches. She manages to track him down, but before the killing blow, the real Wonder Woman steps in to stop her. When Lord escapes again, Diana goes after her, but Zealot leaves with her real prize.

An intriguing and entertaining story that has implications that make me curious as a reader. Great art and action throughout the story.

Sum Of Our Parts

Tim infiltrates a cult in order to save his friend. After revealing who he is and freeing Bernard, he discovers that Bernard can handle himself in a fight well enough to assist. As he takes down the group and frees the other teens, Tim comes to terms with something else within him that he thinks its time to reveal.

The story is good. The action is well done and the art is fantastic.

Solo

An unknown group is on the rise and they have acquired some of Batman’s tech in the aftermath of the Joker War. Batgirl enlists Black Canary to infiltrate the group and get back the technology. After making some explosive introductions, the leader of the group brings Canary in and reveals some interesting news to her before introducing her to her new partner.

An interesting and entertaining story that has great visuals and action. I am interested in seeing where this story goes next and what form it takes for the characters.

Pros

  • Great writing, pacing and adventure. Teases some interesting stories to come.

Cons

  • An anthology issue is a hard one to get into cold if you haven't been following the story since the beginning.
