The Rundown: Batman’s hunt for the Riddler will take him to some familiar and completely foreign destinations as an ancient enemy lurks in the shadows.

Batman-Universe-2-4

Batman and Green Arrow have Riddler cornered, but their attempts to interrogate the criminal are thwarted by the intervention of the police and Riddler’s annoyingly persistent escape attempts. After securing the box and Riddler, Ollie gets a blast of toxin in the face that forces him to go after Batman and allow Edward to escape to his mysterious buyer.

Batman tracks Riddler to an unexpected and hidden location only to find its inhabitants, especially their king, not happy to find him there. When he finds Riddler, the device he stole sends the Dark Knight to a new location. One that will be almost impossible to escape from.

The Story: Bendis does a good job of keeping this story moving. There is a fun, light pace to the story and some interesting mysteries to discover. The light tone lends itself to some comedic interactions between Bruce and Ollie that can be a little too over the top, but there is a good balance to the story with both the tone and pace. The villain reveal was suitably surprising and definitely made me interested in seeing where this story goes next after the last page.

The Art: Nick Derington creates some interesting and fun art in this issue and the action is fantastic.
