The Rundown: Batman’s secret is exposed and he turns to an unlikely source to find a way to reach the Joker.

Wayne Manor and the Batcave are gone and Batman barely escapes the destruction only to land in the hands of the GCPD. With all cards on the table, Bruce Wayne tells Gordon, Bullock and the rest of the assembled what he knows and what he’s learned about Joker’s plan and how it connects to his ancestor.

As a way of moving the investigation forward, Batman brings in Harley Quinn to try to reach Jack Napier again. When it doesn’t go as planned, the two find themselves investigating the catacombs beneath Arkham and discovering something Joker missed. At the same time, Gordon has a run in with a figure wrapped in shadow that will have fatal consequences.

The Story: Sean Murphy sticks the landing with this issue on multiple levels from the plot, pace, dialogue and a blockbuster ending that opens the doors to some huge, dramatic storylines going forward. I really enjoy the world building that Murphy is doing in this story and this issue takes some great dramatic leaps for both Batman and Gordon. The mystery continues to be compelling and engaging and I can’t wait to see what happens next after this issues shocking ending.

The Art: Murphy’s art is fantastic. Everything from the characters to the highly detailed backgrounds are drawn beautifully.
