The Rundown: Ras Al Ghul prepares to unleash the ultimate weapon on the cities of the world as the Outsiders seek the end the threat once and for all.

Ras Al Ghul rallies his troops to decide on their next move and he has not taken the Dark Knight’s bait to go after his damaged Lazarus Pit. He has a new target in mind. One that will get him in the room with those that consider them powerful. When he does, he prepares to deliver his message to the world.

At the same time, Batman and the Outsiders decide to change their tactics as they go after Ras. Rather than take him in conventional ways, Batman takes a darker path. One that will bring him face to face with the Demon’s Head.

The Story: I like the deliberateness of this story. Bryan Hill has taken away all the games, the misdirection and sneaking around. Black Lightning is becoming more interesting and moving beyond complaining about Batman and his secrets. The evolution of the characters is making them more engaging. The Outsiders are getting to the heart of the battle with Ras and coming together as a group. There are still enough interpersonal conflicts to make the series interesting, but the core of the team works well enough to keep the reader interested in not only their mission, but their dynamics.

The Art: Dexter Soy’s art style continues to blow me away. The use of shadows is beautifully done. The way the camera moves and gives perspective and depth to the environment is well done. I love many of the panels throughout and the final few pages are visually thrilling.
