The Rundown: Batman must change tactics if he’s going to find the secrets behind the Designer’s plans.

Penguin has been seriously wounded and Batman drops him off at the hospital after he finds out the truth about Catwoman’s role in the Designer’s plans for him. While he and Lucius go after Gunsmith and Mr. Teeth, Selina and Harley find themselves facing down Merlyn and Cheshire.

Batman finds Riddler’s lair and unlocks the clues that will give him his first look at hie newest foe as Catwoman arrives to tell him the truth. At the same time, a new player is keeping an eye on the action as she reports back to the person who brought Harley back to Gotham; Joker.

The Story: Slick, energetic and filled with tense action, James Tynion IV keeps the story moving forward at breakneck speed in this issue. The dialogue is great and it is always gratifying to see Batman adapt and change tactics when needed. The story does a great job of utilizing the character’s detective skills and it brings the reader along on a journey that is engaging both externally and internally with the Bat/Cat relationship. Not only can I not wait to see how that dynamic changes with the impending reveal of Selina’s role in events, but the mystery character watching the events unfold is intriguing as well.

The Art: All of the artists bring beautiful visuals to this issue. Everything from the action to the interpersonal moments are rendered beautifully and I was drawn in with every page and panel.
