After living through a series of nightmares, Batman has willed himself awake from them and is about to leave Arkham Asylum.

Unfortunately for the villains who have been keeping him there and pumped full of fear gas, he will not be going quietly.

Batman makes his way through a cadre of his villains as he makes his way out of the asylum. Some he breezes by like Riddler and others he takes time to send a message to like Scarecrow. As the Dark Knight fights his way out of this particular nightmare secure in the fact that he has survived, there is the hint that his escape is not entirely unwanted by the men who took him in the first place.

Tom King does an amazing job of bringing a close to one story and setting up the aftermath with the new one. Utilizing characters guaranteed to give Batman a sense of triumph while also showcasing that the game is still on for the character in the eyes of Bane and Thomas is a great move. I was impressed with how this issue unfolded and how it was paced to give the reader a sense of ascendance. I can’t wait to see where King takes the character and the story next.

Mikel Janin and Jorge Fornes do an excellent job of rendering the characters and delivering both mood and emotion through the art. A visually beautiful issue.
