The Rundown: Jackson Hyde finds himself in an unusual situation after a deadly encounter.

Jackson battles a vicious enemy and is later given valuable advice from a mentor. He then makes his way to Amnesty Bay where he soon finds himself in the role of crime fighter. Finally, Jackson heads to Atlantis for a training session. However, he soon finds himself in a compromising position. Meanwhile, an unknown entity monitors Jackson’s movements.

The Story: Thomas has crafted an exciting an entertaining first chapter of this series. There are so many good things about this story. Jackson is charming and interesting. I really enjoy watching his interactions with the people in his life. l also love the way his identity as Black and LGBT+ is incorporated in a seamless and comfortable manner. Jackson is who he is, and his story is a reflection of that.

From the introductory pages, the action is non stop and well defined. There is a mysterious undertone that connects all the various scenarios that are encountered. And I am intrigued by how this enigma will unfold. I am already completely invested in this story and eagerly await the next chapter.

The Art: Thomas uses a modern, realistic art style to create the world of this story. This is highlighted by bold brilliant color work that creates a youthful and exciting tone. And and emphasis on character and form creates an emotional connection with the characters. Overall, this is a good looking issue that is both interesting and engaging.
