Rick Grimes (Lincoln) was seriously wounded with an army of walkers heading towards him. After setting off explosions that wash away the walkers and himself, Rick is washed ashore where he is whisked away on a helicopter with Jadis.

According to the reports, the AMC Studios films will pick up after Rick’s rescue and the first one will explore what happened to him as he finds himself dealing with another aspect of the apocalypse.

“I like the idea that we get to tell a bigger story, maybe with a sort of wider vista,” Lincoln told Yvette Nicole Brown in a sitdown interview. “And I’ve always been interesting in what’s going on out there, you know, whether or not there is contact with the wider world. I want to know the meta of it all. And I suppose to be able to kind of touch upon that in a contained story for me is a very exciting proposition … Maybe it’s the start of a bigger story.”

The untitled, continuing story of Rick Grimes is expected to begin production in early 2019.
