Rick prepares for a tense meeting with Jennifer after she tells him that she knows who he is. When he confronts her at her father’s house, he is given his first assignment. One that will pit him against the worst of the people he’s been sent to investigate in order to save a man close to Jennifer.

She wants Rick to save the life of a childhood friend and merchant for the Aryan Brotherhood and she wants him to use his FBI contacts to get the man relocated. It’s a favor he knows will be difficult, but his choices are limited and she knows that. She also knows that he wants the men responsible for the death of an agent and she is willing to get him closer if he plays ball. He turns to Sheila for help, but his handler has her own problems when a new agent is assigned to assist her in the Morgan case that she tries to convince him she isn’t working on.

His target seems worthless on the surface, but his knowledge of the family’s past might prove valuable in getting Rick out from under Jennifer’s control.

Bryan Hill continues to mesmerize the reader with this engaging and thought-provoking issue. The noose continues to tighten around both Rick and Sheila and the tension Hill brings through the plot and the dialogue is amazing. The story has a sense of immediacy in its pace and the way it grows and evolves keeps the reader both engaged in its characters and guessing at where it goes next.

Leandro Fernandez delivers amazing art in this issue. One of my favorite tools that Fernandez employs is constantly keeping Rick bathed in shadow. It adds to the seriousness of his situation as well as making him almost detached from the people around him.
