What started recently as a rumor has finally been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

According to THR, actor Alfred Molina will reprise his role of Otto Octavius aka Doctor Octopus for the upcoming third Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures outing for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Molina first played the villain in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 opposite Tobey Maguire as the wall crawler. With Molina joining the cast for the new film directed by Jon Watts who directed the previous two films.

With the confirmation that Molina will appear in the film after the announcement that Jamie Foxx would be reprising his role of Electro which he played opposite Andrew Garfield’s version of the hero, there is no doubt that the film will be diving into the waters of the multiverse for this latest outing. Benedict Cumberbatch will also appear in the film reprising the role of Doctor Strange.

With the re-introduction of these characters, could Maguire and Garfield suit up to help Holland’s Spider-Man tackle the multiverse threat? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
