The Rundown: Evie tries to find a way to help Claire and a story from the past could give her the inspiration she needs.

With Tommy still missing, Claire has cut herself off from everyone and refuses to leave her room. Evie tries her best to find a way to bring her out by cooking for her. As she looks for ingredients, she begins to feel a connection to something or someone else.

She begins to have visions of Akaal as he and the rest of the Adventure Team are on the high seas and he is preparing for a mission that will bring him to the depths of the ocean to return a powerful artifact to the mermaids. At the same time, a group of pirates fights to get the artifact for themselves and Akaal will do whatever it takes to protect the creatures and their treasure.

The Story: I continue to love the consistently brilliant and engaging storytelling from Fraction. I am in awe with the expansion of this world and how this issue beautifully connects them both. Evie’s story is a great tale of family and support and Akaal’s story supports that one with action, adventure, thrills and heart. The story builds to a fantastic cliffhanger and I look forward to seeing where it goes next.

The Art: Dodson consistently delivers stunning imagery and visuals throughout the issue. I am in love with the visual style of this issue and the character designs.
