The Rundown: The House of Kent takes on a new threat from across the multiverse while Lois faces some trouble closer to home.

Superman and his family square off against an evolved Parasite from another universe and Conner is its first victim. Brainiac 5 breaks off from the fight to help the fallen hero while the others continue the fight, but their tactics might be making the situation worse. At the same time, Red Cloud watches the events unfold.

Lois has her own issues to deal with while her family fights for their lives. Leone has stormed the Daily Planet accusing Lois of being from another universe and demanding her arrest. As the big battle rages outside, Leone triggers the right response from the reporter after pulling on a very tight thread and Superman’s wife ends up on the wrong side of the law.

The Story: Brian Michael Bendis has thrown a lot of big storylines at the Man of Steel in this current story arc and some stick while others don’t. This issue encapsulates that. Everything with the Invisible Mafia sticks well, but consistently has to compete with storylines that go nowhere. The Parasite fight comes to an unsatisfactory conclusion that had none of the promise of the previous issue build up.

Superman breaking away from the fight to battle Red Cloud made no sense and took time away from the developments at the Daily Planet which were much more compelling.

The Art: John Romita Jr had some interesting visual moments, but there were way too many giant flashes that took up the panel and muted the characters.
