The Greatest American Hero ran for three years on ABC between 1981 and 1983. The original series, about a teacher given a super suit by aliens and his attempts to learn how to use it, starred William Katt, Connie Selleca and Robert Culp.

ABC is greenlighting a pilot of a reboot of the series from the producers of Fresh Off the Boat  Rachna Fruchbom and Nahnatchka Khan and their Fierce Baby production company. The new series, based on the Stephen J. Cannell, will feature an Indian American woman in the lead named Meera. Meera is a 30-year-old woman who lives in Cleveland and excels in both drinking and karaoke, but not much else. When aliens entrust her with a super suit designed to help her protect the planet, they don’t realize what they’ve done.
