A Wrinkle in Time Principal Photography Has Completed

Acclaimed director Ava DuVernay (Selma) took to Twitter today to exuberantly announce that principal photography has ended on the big screen version of the classic young adult novel A Wrinkle in Time.

The film, based on the popular novel by Madeleine L’Engle is about a 13 year old girl named Meg whose life and family are turned upside down when her government scientist father goes missing while working on a secret project called a Tesseract. A device that folds both space and time. Meg enlists the help of her friends and a group of mysterious supernatural beings to try and rescue her father and stop an all-encompassing evil from spreading across the universe.

A Wrinkle in Time was originally released in 1962 and has been a staple of young adult reading ever since. The story has been adapted across different mediums as well with the last adaptation being a TV movie produced by Disney in 2003.

The film stars Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Andre Holland, Michael Pena, Zach Galifianakis, Mindy Kaling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Oprah Winfrey. The screenplay is by Jeff Stockwell (Bridge to Teribithia) and will be released by the Walt Disney Company on April 6, 2018.
