Stephen King praised the recently released horror thriller A Quiet Place as “an extraordinary piece of work”. Now it looks like the writers of that work are looking to King for their next project.

According to Deadline, A Quiet Place writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods pitched the idea of adapting Stephen King’s short story The Boogeyman for the screen and Twentieth Century Fox is currently finalizing a deal based on that pitch which will have Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Dan Cohen producing.

The Boogeyman was originally released on 1973 and added to the anthology collection Night Shift in 1978. The story follows Lester Billings as he recounts the tale of his children who were all murdered. The only commonality being that they all cried out “Boogeyman” before they died and their closet doors were ajar.

Levy and Cohen’s production company 21 Laps is also in production on the third season of Netflix’s Stranger Things as well as gearing up to release the Sci-Fi thriller The Darkest Minds this summer.
