The Rundown: Erica returns to confront someone from her past and learns that plans are in motion to expand the order.

A young woman is alerted at the farm that someone is coming. As she prepares her systems and looks at the footage, she discovers that it is Erica Slaughter. Knowing the history they have together, the woman prepares and when Erica arrives, she gets the drop on her and manages to capture her. A move that reveals the history Erica and the young woman named Bex share both in the order and with each other.

When Erica awakens, she is confronted by Bex and told the truth of what is happening within the order, especially with the House of Slaughter and its new leader Cecilia. She is also told what Ceclia is planning for the future of the house before Bex takes her to the border and lets her go. Erica will have to decide what she wants to do with her future and if she can really stay away from the fight when she hears of more attacks on children in the area.

The Story: James Tynion IV brings the story back to Erica and her journey and I love diving back into her adventures. The story does a great job of telling story without words in the beginning as every moment with both Bex and Ericca apart is filled with tension and suspense. I love when the story begins to pick up with Erica learning about the House and Cecilia and the plot lays enough breadcrumbs and teases to immerse me back into the story and make me excited for more.

The Art: Werther Dell’Edera creates amazing imagery throughout the issue. I love the visual style of this story and how the art can tell the suspenseful moments visually without words.
