The Rundown: Remy and Rogue face a demon while the X-Men take on a real-world evil.

Gambit and Rogue have made their way to someone who might be able to help them remove the demon infecting Remy’s soul. Unfortunately, the man known as Repent is already attempting to help a young mutant and this one is crafty enough to emotionally attack Rogue. A move that will cause Gambit to travel to hell to retrieve the girl’s soul, but it might cost him his own.

At the same time, the X-Men attempt to connect with the young mutant known as Howler who is still feeling the effects of untold torture. His pain and grief hit the team hard and they vow to find a way to help him and the other mutants being held by a sadist by the name of Gunther.

The Story: Simone crafts a deeply emotional story in this issue. There are so many interesting and deeply moving moments throughout the story with Rogue confronting her past and her faith while the others face their mounting anger and rage over what has been done to Howler and what is happening to the others. There are moments where cruelty is shown and that moment affected me as well. The story ends with a great cliffhanger for both sides of it and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

The Art: Vecchio creates some beautifully rich and visually exciting art throughout the story. I love the character designs a lot and there are some great action beats as well as visual moments in hell that grabbed my attention.
