The Rundown: Rogue and her team fight monsters as Death comes to Haven House.
The young mutants continue to listen to the story Mr. St. Juniors is telling his daughter and they find comfort in not only the words, but the message of the story itself. Unfortunately, that story will be interrupted when Lady Darkhold makes her presence felt and demands the kids be brought to her. At the same time, Rogue battles a transformed Wolverine while Morbius tempts Jubilee with her past and Gambit fights the influence of the Eye and its previous owner who returns to settle their debt.
In another story, Haven House is visited by the police who have a personal stake in the kidnapping of a local girl and a suspect in custody who refuses to give answers. With the team away on a mission, it’s up to the new mutants to find a way to help. Using their gifts, they manage to discover who has the girl and where, but their mission to find her will reveal a tragedy.
The Story: Simone brings this arc to a action packed and thrilling conclusion filled with great character moments, suspense and fun. I continue to love her take on these characters as well as the new ones a lot. That leads into the second story where the new mutants are at the forefront and given a mission that not only showcases how interesting they are as a team, but how engaging they are as characters. A truly fun, entertaining adventure from start to finish.
The Art: Marquez, Vecchio and Messina create beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. I love the different art styles and how they complement each other while also creating a beautiful dark tone to the world of the stories.
