Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios are teaming up to bring to life the highly successful game God of War to the Prime Video streaming service and they have announced who will be playing the lead.

Ryan Hurst has been tapped to take on the role of Kratos in the upcoming series which will follow the storyline of the last two games in the ten game series. Hurst has previously been connected to the God of War video game series playing the role of Thor in Playstation’s God of War Ragnarok where he was nominated for a BAFTA Award for his performance.

Ryan Hurst is known for his roles in films like Remember the Titans and Saving Private Ryan as well as series like Sons of Anarchy and The Walking Dead. Hurst will soon str opposite Matt Damon and Tom Holland in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
God of War follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.
The series will be executive produced and written by Ronald D. Moore (Outlander, Battlestar Galactica) with Frederick E.O. Toye (Shogun, Fallout) directing the first two episodes. God of War is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions.
