The Rundown: More truths are revealed as one of the superpowers prepares for war.
The other superpowers believe that Etienne is dead, but Heavy is convinced that Magus is responsible for what happened to his son Kid Ignition. Etienne pays a visit to Valentina as tensions continue to rise and Heavy attacks a number of Magus’ allies before confronting him and Eliza at the Pyramid. Valentina intervenes and invites them all to her base.
When they arrive, Valentina and Etienne reveal the truth about everything he has done and everything that he has planned for humanity and the future of the planet. As they argue about his plans, Etienne’s revelation to Heavy will lead to a dangerous final encounter.
The Story: Gillen creates some great moments of tension throughout this issue. The world of these characters continues to grow and evolve in some interesting ways and the interpersonal conflicts in this issue only add to that evolution in ways that keep me engaged. I love the beautifully brilliant complexity of these characters and cannot wait to see what they do next.
The Art: Wijngaard delivers stunning art throughout the issue. The visuals are exciting, bold and beautifully detailed.
