The Rundown: Jennifer’s favor to her cousin will bring her in the middle of a dangerous power struggle.
In the aftermath of a death connected to Hulk, Jennifer comes to Sakaar for the funeral and Bruce asks her to stay for a few days to keep the peace. As she finds her stay being extended, Jennifer becomes concerned as she gets immersed in local politics and quickly seeks a way to get off planet and back home.
After being invited to the wedding of a local leader named Korven, Jennifer reluctantly agrees to attend to convince a powerful merchant to use one of his ships. Her attendance leads to a bigger problem when the reception is attacked and the bride murdered.
The Story: Phillips crafts an entertaining, thrilling and engaging story in this first issue. I’ve always loved She-Hulk as a character and this story gives her some interesting and compelling drama to deal with while also focusing on her own feelings about the circumstances she finds herself in. There are some great moments of action in the story as well as the mystery and politics grabbed my attention and made me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Kuder delivers some powerful visual moments throughout the issue. I really enjoyed the visual style of this issue and the character designs.
