The Rundown: Cloak and Dagger fight to evacuate humans from an area being taken over by the X-Virus.

Outside of St Louis, Dagger and her team fight off a rampaging mutant army as their contact Jensen moves survivors onto buses to get them out of the area. Unable to stay in the same plane together, Cloak emerges to help as Dagger taps out to allow him to take over. At the same time, Jensen and the survivors find themselves confronted by the Fenris twins.

After the battle, Cloak and the others discover that the survivors have been taken and he turns it over to Dagger to continue the investigation and lead the mission to find the missing. They manage to track down Jensen’s beacon but discover it is already too late as the Fenris twins have specific plans for the survivors.

The Story: Ireland crafts an entertaining story with some interesting and unexpected stakes. I’ve always been a fan of these characters and the story gives them an intriguing problem to deal with regarding being on the same plane together while also introducing an interesting and engaging complication in that regard. I’m personally still on the fence with the entire age of revelation storyline, but this first issue is a solid, entertaining story with some compelling twists.

The Art: Tammetta delivers beautifully detailed and visually engaging art throughout the issue. I love the character designs a lot.
