The Rundown: Sam and Dean investigate a series of fire connected to a local distiller.
In a small town in Michigan, a man named Richie tells his wife that their lives are about to change right before the bottle of alcohol he’s holding causes him to burst into flames killing him instantly. Sam and Dean are at a diner when Sam tells his brother that he had a vision of the killing and the brothers hit the road to determine if its something they need to hunt down.
After making their way to the town and speaking with the man’s wife, they are met by a woman named Effie who bring them to the local distillery where they not only discover the supernatural forces they are hunting, but also that they are not the only ones hunting it for their own reasons.
The Story: Pak creates an entertaining story in this issue. There is definitely the look and feel of the television series throughout the dialogue and plot progression and that is both comforting to fans of the series but also limiting in telling new and unique stories for the characters. I found the issue enjoyable as someone who has seen the series, but I found it hard to find much in it that appeals to me beyond that. Hopefully, the next issue will shake things up in some interesting ways.
The Art: Messias crafts some great art throughout the issue. I like the visual style of the issue and the character designs.
