The Rundown: Clark is confronted by the military and learns something devastating about his new mentor.

Superboy has been surrounded by the military and has to think fast if he has any chance of escaping from General Lane who wants him in custody. Clark finds a way to escape and makes his way back home where he tells his parents what happened and how he is convinced Blake has something to do with it.
Convinced he was set up by his teacher and mentor, Clark returns to school where he has to confront running out on his date with Lana as well as the school bully before a revelation in science class leads him to something he realizes about Blake. Something that will require him to track down the teacher and tell him what he knows.
The Story: Waid crafts an intense and interesting story in this issue. While I enjoyed multiple elements of this arc, the final reveal and its conclusion came on too quickly and didn’t hit the emotional buttons I hoped it would since suspicion of Blake and his motives have been the backbone of this arc since it began. Overall, an entertaining slice of life for young Clark, but the conflict fizzles towards the end.
The Art: Patridge creates some beautiful imagery throughout the issue. I liked the visual style a lot.
