The film distribution company NEON had its presence felt at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. The company is assembling an impressive list of projects to present starting with the Anne Hathaway/Jason Sudekis Sci-Fi comedy Colossal. In addition to releasing the film April 7, 2017, NEON has also decided to bring back a classic film gimmick: the Short Film.

When Colossal is released in theaters, it will be accompanied by a short film. The first of many for NEON, who has started a Short Film division called NEON SHORTS. The first film from the division premiered at TIFF 2016 and was produced by actor Jonathan Keltz (Reign) and Producer Evan Landry. It’s called 5 Films About Technology written and directed by Peter Huang. The short will feature television and film actors illustrating the overuse and constant presence of technology in our everyday lives.

The short film will premiere alongside Colossal starting April 7th. Writer/Director Huang said, “I’m so happy that Neon loves the medium enough to include us with screenings of COLOSSAL. It’s unprecedented and I’m really excited to see what other shorts they wind up attaching to their films in the future.”

Gloria (Anne Hathaway) drinks too hard and parties too much. Her boyfriend has enough of it and throws her out. Gloria returns to her hometown, dreaming of making a new start, but instead revives her childhood friendship with Oscar (Jason Sudeikis), who runs a bar.
